The Kevin De Bruyne Cup 2021 is cancelled !

After the cancellation in 2020 due to the coronapandemic, the Board of Directors of VZW KDB again decided - in the interest of the health of everyone - to cancel the Kevin De Bruyne Cup (scheduled for 14 and 15 August). Also the Suwie Cup and the Galamatch on Friday 13 August between RSCA Ladies and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim are cancelled.

The organizers made these drastic decisions based on :

- - The increasing number of infections and hospitalizations at home.

- Certain countries (and zones) in Europe that turn red, so there is a chance that participating teams from those countries or zones will not be able to travel.

- The organization had planned to organize a Covid-free KDB Cup, by checking the vaccination passport. If one would not meet the conditions to attend the KDB Cup free of coronavirus, to provide free antigen tests. These rapid tests are now prohibited by the government. They have to be replaced by PCR tests, taken 72 hours before the event and giving a negative result. As an organization, we do not want to burden the spectators (many of whom are youngsters and adults who will not have been fully vaccinated yet) with extra costs.

- We consider it a moral duty to look after the health of the participating teams, our hundreds of volunteers and the thousands of spectators first and foremost.

KDB VZW will refund all tickets already ordered as quickly as possible.

We very much regret that, just like in 2020, we have to cancel the KDB Cup and the peripheral activities under these circumstances. But we give everyone an appointment on 28 and 29 May 2022, for the 5eedition of the KDB Cup. Make a note of these dates in your agenda !
